The Third Grade will be celebrating Grandparents's Day on Friday, September 10th. We would like to invite grandparents of all 3rd grade students to school on this special day to eat a picnic lunch with their grandchild. Parents are also very welcome to attend this event!
Lunch will begin at 11:00. Please bring a picnic lunch for you and your grandchild and a blanket or chairs. We will eat on the front lawn/west side of the Elementary School. If you are unable to attend, please send a sack lunch and drink with your child to school on Friday.
Each year we have a dessert auction during the celebration. The money raised during the auction will fund various third grade activities. Every child is asked to bring a sweet item in a decorated container. This may include pies, cakes, cookies, or even candy in a creative container. Let your imagination go wild! The containers become part of the auctioned item, be sure your packaged items are in a decorative disposable container!!
We will also be auctioning off quilts. Each third grade class hand-decorates a twin sized quilt. They are great keepsakes to have. the acution will begin at 12:00 at the First Baptist Church, located behind the school cafeteria. We will walk to the church together after lunch. The First Baptist Church is located off school grounds, so every child will be required to have a signed permission slip to participate. (Note: Please see the bottom of this post to download a permission slip). Please return permission slips by Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Grandparents/Parents are welcome to drive around to the church after the picnic, but children may not ride with parents/grandparents. Students must stay with their class and they will be brought to the church together as a group.
If you win an auction item, please pay for it at the table located near the exit doors. Multiple bids and wins are welcomed; we can combine your wins if you would like to write one check.
The Annual Homecoming Parade is also being held on the same day. When our auction ends, we will either travel back to the classroom to wait to be released to the parade, or we will wait at the church to be released to the parade. Checking at your child will be result in an unexcused absence. There will be a sign out sheet at the church, by the exit doors. You must sign out your child before taking them with you.
We hope everyone will come help us celebrate this special day!
Thank you for all of your support,
Third Grade Teachers
